Welcome to Bug Identifier. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Bug Identifier mobile application (“App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you should not use the App.

1. Use of the App

The App is designed to help users identify insects and spiders by using their device’s camera or photo library, and determine their species with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). Additional features include saving identified bugs and viewing discovery locations.

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not use the App in any way that may harm the App, its developers, or other users.

2. User Content

You may upload or capture photos through the App to enable AI-based insect identification. You retain ownership of the photos you submit. By submitting them, you grant us permission to temporarily process the content via our integrated AI (Google Gemini) solely for the purpose of classification.

We do not store, reuse, or share your content unless explicitly saved by you within the app.

3. Permissions and Access

The App may request access to the following:

  • Camera and Photo Library – to allow you to take or upload photos for identification

  • Location Services – to tag where an insect was discovered

  • These permissions are optional, and the App will request them only when necessary.

4. Subscriptions and Purchases

The App may offer optional in-app purchases, including subscription-based features.

  • Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation.

  • Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

  • You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings.

Free trials may be offered and will convert to paid subscriptions if not canceled before the end of the trial period. All prices and billing terms are disclosed within the app before purchase.

5. Analytics and Third-Party Services

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data to improve app performance and user experience. We do not track personal information for advertising purposes.

We also use Gemini AI (by Google) for processing your insect images securely. Data is encrypted in transit and used strictly for identification purposes.

6. Modifications to the App and Terms

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify or update the App (temporarily or permanently)

  • Update these Terms at any time

Changes will be effective upon posting. Continued use of the App after such changes implies your acceptance.

7. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property rights in the App and its content (excluding user-uploaded content) are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App without written permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bug Identifier and its developers shall not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

  • Any loss of data or content due to usage or inability to use the App

The App is provided “as-is” without warranties of any kind.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without notice, for any reason including violation of these Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [your country — e.g. Republic of Turkey or applicable jurisdiction].
